Wild Clovers 4-H Club Exceeds Expectations for Local Pet Food Drive

(Port Hadlock, WA – January 29, 2013) – Wild Clovers rose to the challenge in the fight against hungry pets in the Jefferson County area by donating 275 lbs of dry dog/cat food, 11 lbs of dog treats and 34 cans of dog/cat food to the Jefferson County Food Bank.  Collection bins were established and monitored at  Pet Town, Bonita's, Cenex, The Lucky Dog Training, Hadlock Building Supply, Sony's R.V. and Chameleon Salon
The Wild Clovers 4-H Club started this project in early December as a way to give back to the community and help pet owners who are having a hard time making ends meet.  The club members worked hard to design posters to spread the word and make it easy for people to donate food for, cats, dogs, birds and other pets at local area businesses.

ALL DOGS WIN! AKC Newsletter

Here is an exerpt from the October 2011 edition of the AKC Newsletter.

Meet more 4-H Youth Competing at the FIRST EVER AKC National Junior Obedience & Agility Events!
The AKC Canine PartnersSM program is proud of its work with 4-H groups around the country. The program has enabled many juniors to enroll ALL their dogs with the AKC Canine Partners program at a discount or at no charge so they can participate in AKC events. Many of these 4-H juniors are excitedly preparing for the inaugural AKC National Junior Obedience Competition and AKC Junior Agility Competition taking place Dec. 17 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. These events are being held in conjunction with the 2011 AKC National Obedience Invitational and AKC Agility Invitational. Whereas the nation's top conformation junior handlers have competed at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship since it began, there has never been a separate competition for the juniors who compete in the Companion Events until this year.

Jefferson County Fair 2011

This year we had special guests to exhibit training for hunt and retrieve dogs. Bob from the Olympic Rainshadow Hunt & Retrieve Club exhibited a different style of training dogs to retrieve. Bob is seen with Emily and Ava as they worked with Bob and his dogs during the exhibition session on Sunday afternoon.

Stacking in line is very important in showing consistency and control over your dog, as well as showing off how well groomed and healthy they are. 4-H Fitting & Showmanship event is about the care and health of your dog and your dog knowledge in the areas of anatomy, breed knowledge, 4-H knowledge and AKC knowledge. During this event the participants are also judged on their presentation not only of their dog but themselves.
